Ft Lauderdale, FL USA – Sallie Mae and Wayman Aviation Academy are proud to announce a new partnership with up to complete financing for complete pilot training from first flight to commercial certification, with a work option and pathway to Airline Partners.
Career Training Loans will help Wayman Aviation Academy students fill the Pilot Shortage
Sallie Mae has been a major educational lender in the United States for decades. Its loans have given opportunity to countless students and professionals. The Career Training loans are only available in partnership with aviation academies that are rigorously vetted and approved. Wayman Aviation Academy joins this select group of flight training institutions.
The new student loan program covers everything from the first flight to instrument rating, commercial single and multi engine certification. Then CFI and CFII instructor ratings complete the program to allow for the first pilot job as an instructor. Sallie Mae offers full loans for flight training which includes all flights, classes, fees for exams, and checkrides. It can also offer loans for short pilot courses or commercial completion.

The option for minimal payments during training allows students to focus on their studies. Students that excel in the flight program and reach their instructor ratings can be hired by Waman Aviation Academy. They gain valuable experience and flight hours as an instructor until reaching 1,500 hour Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) minimums. Then the student can select from 6 Wayman Airline partners including Sky West and Republic Airways, which fly for American Airlines, United, and Delta.
Wayman Eddy Luy, Vice President of the Academy says; “Financing is critical to help aspiring aviators reach the airlines, solve the pilot shortage and to help us fulfill our mission, – Changing Lives Through Aviation.”
Boeing’s recent 2020-2039 market outlook states a need for 763,000 new pilots over the next 20 years. After the initial furlough due to the pandemic, the regional airlines have led the recovery. The long term demand for pilots to replace retiring crews has not lessened, but accelerated due to early retirements.
Students will be able to fly from the Hollywood North Perry Airport KHWO facility for this accelerated full-time Part 141 training program. Wayman recently opened a new $3M training center at the field with classrooms, dispatch, library, and testing facilities. This doubles the space available of their 12,000 sqft hangar, FAA approved Part 145 Repair station, and sim center.
